The Cabo Project (JULY 2020 - 2021)

The Cabo Project is a family collective made up of NOGA (Noga Cabo), Adam Cabo, Zohar Cabo, & Dassi Rosenkrantz.

In July 2020, we spent two weeks working day and night on the beginnings of The Cabo Project. Setting up a recording space in the living room of “The Farm”(the house at Hudson Valley Distillers in Germantown, NY), we went in with zero expectation of what we would create. A couple of days in, we unanimously decided that this project would be a vehicle to give voice to the origins of our lineage and ourselves.

We explore our family’s complex cultural history through genre, storytelling, and food, traversing through Egypt, Poland, Israel, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and New York. While also tying this familial journey back to our own experiences of the world, we allowed the serenity of our surroundings to inspire a song about the work of healing as individuals being the foundation of collective healing for humanity.

This is the first album of our family collective, and will most likely not be the last.

MOSAIC (DECeMBER 2019)

This was a work commissioned by the New England Conservatory NOVA Fellows that was performed on December 15th, 2019 in the  Plimpton Shattuck Black Box Theatre at New England Conservatory (Boston, MA).

MOSAIC was an immersive concert experience in which collaborators from a wide spectrum of artistic disciplines came together to unite classical music, jazz, contemporary improvisation, visual art, spoken word, and dance, all while pushing the boundaries of the expected performer/audience relationship. This piece served as a commentary on immigration in the United States and the process of piecing an artistic work together.

The event took place in two parts. During the first part, concertgoers  traveled to three rooms to view the different disciplines interacting within independent, small groups; the second part of the afternoon brought together all performers, creating and performing as one to make a MOSAIC of artistry.

Prana: Breath, a movement

through the rasas (JuNE 2020)

A dance-film created during the height of the pandemic in virtual collaboration with Chicago-based Bharatanatyam dancers Rekha Iyer & Asha Rowland.

This multidisciplinary work illustrates the duality between the experience of the COVID-19 Pandemic and the BLM movement. Using the framework of the navarasas (emotional states of being in Indian classical dance), we explore the American emotional psychology surrounding these two transformative events. This was a fundraiser event for The Okra Project, an American grassroots collective providing support to Black trans, non-binary, and gender-non conforming individuals. During the week that followed the premiere, we raised a total of $2,000.
